Town & Country was founded in 1943, making it one of the oldest continuously running businesses in Mountain Brook. Laurel Bassett is just the fourth owner in Town & Country’s 65 year history. She worked at the store while attending Mountain Brook High School and Birmingham-Southern, and bought the store after working there for 12 years. Her mother taught art at Mountain Brook and Indian Springs, and Laurel was a painting major at Birmingham-Southern. Now Laurel makes most of the jewelry for Town & Country, which you will see featured in the show.
The best things about Town & Country are their personal service and wide variety of clothes, at reasonable prices. You can usually count on one-on-one service at Town & Country, and all of the salespeople are knowledgeable about the merchandise and happy to help you find whatever you are looking for. They have clothes for all ages and sizes, and can show you the pieces that will work best for you.
Some of the most important lines that we carry: 600 West, Andria Lieu, Lior, Nic & Zoe, Cartise, Foxcroft blouses, Fibers by Barbara Lesser, Art of Cloth, and handmade jewelry by Laurel Bassett (me)!
